There is so much to see in plant nurseries that you can spend a lot of time walking around in them. A larger nursery can be more fun and interesting to browse. If you go online to learn about gardening or do your research in gardening magazines you’ll come across all sorts of different merchants peddling bulbs. We don’t really have any problems with these ads, but it is incredibly important that you are careful about the places from which you buy your bulbs. It’s totally fine to find the bulb supplier you like the best on the Internet. For us, however, we much prefer buying our bulbs from nurseries in our local area. The most important reason that we prefer this method is that it allows us to get our hands on them and check them out with our own eyes and hands, feel them, inspect them, etc. Do this first, just to try it out; visiting your local nursery is fun!

Pretty much everybody has at least heard of peat moss once before. It’s a fair assumption, however, that most gardeners don’t use it correctly because, from what we can tell, most gardeners seem to think it only needs to be thrown in there.

Peat moss is an organic material and, as such, it does give a certain amount of nutrition in it. It was not, though, ever intended to be used as fertilizer. Peat moss is fantastic for mixing into soil that is compacted so that it assumes a finger grade and a lighter quality. It’s also possible to mix fertilizer and peat moss too. Peat moss can also be worked into soil that is super fine, which keeps it from being able to retain moisture. It has come to our attention that little information about safety and health are covered in gardening information on the Internet. We have been involved in it for a long time so it is understandable. Even though its just gardening, it is still an important to be conscious of it. Health and safety issues are often easily ignored by people. Always try to take the right safety precautions so that you can enjoy many years of gardening.
